Herringbone Paved Driveway In Nottingham

At Ashfield Paving, we recently completed an outstanding transformation project that perfectly demonstrates our expertise in creating bespoke driveways with complementary fencing solutions. Our latest undertaking involved designing and installing a sophisticated block paved driveway featuring a distinctive 90-degree herringbone pattern, alongside brand new boundary fencing for a property in Nottingham.

Site Preparation & Surface Clearance

Before beginning any installation work, we conducted a thorough assessment of the existing surface conditions. Our team meticulously cleared the entire area, removing all old materials and debris to create a clean foundation for the new driveway. 

This preparation phase is crucial for achieving long-lasting results, as proper groundwork prevents future issues such as subsidence or uneven settling.

We carefully excavated the designated area to the required depth, making sure all excess waste was removed from the site in an environmentally responsible manner. Our attention to detail during this initial stage ensures the final installation will perform well for many years to come.

90-Degree Herringbone Pattern 

The centrepiece of this project was the installation of our distinctive 90-degree herringbone pattern using premium dark grey block pavers. This particular laying pattern creates a striking visual effect that sets the driveway apart from conventional paving, whilst providing excellent structural integrity and durability.

Our skilled paving contractors positioned each paver to maintain perfect alignment throughout the pattern, resulting in a seamless finish that demonstrates our commitment to precision workmanship. The herringbone design not only looks impressive but also distributes weight more effectively than standard laying patterns, making it ideal for residential driveways.

Elegant White Brick Border 

To frame the main driveway area and add a sophisticated finishing touch, we installed a contrasting white brick border around the entire perimeter. This design choice creates a stunning visual boundary that highlights the herringbone pattern whilst adding an extra dimension of elegance to the overall appearance.

We extended this white brick theme to create a welcoming pathway leading directly to the front door. This thoughtful design element guides visitors towards the entrance whilst maintaining visual harmony with the main driveway surface.

We also constructed an additional step leading to the front door using matching dark grey bricks. This steps blends seamlessly with the main driveway design whilst providing secure footing and easy access to the property.

Boundary Fence Installation 

Complementing the driveway transformation, we installed two brand new fences running along either side of the newly paved area. We began by setting robust gravel posts with matching gravel boards to create a solid foundation for the fencing system.

The fencing itself consists of high-quality feather edge timber that has been selected for its durability and attractive appearance. This style of fencing provides excellent privacy and security whilst maintaining an attractive boundary that complements the sophisticated driveway design. Our installation methods mean the fencing will withstand the elements and provide reliable service for many years.
