At Ashfield Paving, we recently completed a rewarding project in Hucknall that involved laying a fresh garden patio and installing artificial grass. Our client wanted a welcoming outdoor space suitable for entertaining and relaxing, so we focused on light-grey porcelain slabs and low-maintenance landscaping features. This combination delivers a comfortable setting, whilst offering a modern appearance for the entire garden.

Creating A Modern Garden Patio

We started the project by preparing the ground to accommodate large, light-grey porcelain slabs. These were carefully laid at the rear of the garden to make sure the surface ran flush with the timber garden room.

This design choice provides an even transition between the indoor and outdoor areas, resulting in a bright and inviting garden patio that’s perfectly suited for barbecues or social gatherings. Using these same pavers for a garden path further unifies the space, meaning that the overall look remains cohesive as you move through the garden.

Before laying each slab, we made sure the foundations were level, reducing the possibility of shifting or uneven surfaces over time. The high-quality materials used also help resist weather-related wear, ensuring this modern garden patio remains functional and attractive for years to come. Each slab was set carefully in place, meaning the finished surface had a neat, polished finish.

Installing Artificial Grass With Gravel Borders

On either side of the new footpath, we installed artificial grass to create visually striking, low-maintenance green zones. Artificial grass offers the look of natural turf whilst removing the need for mowing, watering or fertilising. This option means the entire garden area stays looking fresh, even in challenging weather conditions.

To complete the project, we surrounded the path and garden patio with gravel borders. These borders give the garden a defined edge that helps to reduce weed growth. The gravel boarders also result in minimal maintenance requirements, giving the homeowners more time to enjoy their outdoor space without frequent weeding.
