Stylish Block Paving With Custom Brickwork Design

We recently carried out a full driveway installation for a semi-detached property in Hucknall. The client wanted a practical parking area with a clean, professional appearance that also tied in well with the lawn and existing pathway. Our team designed and laid a block paved driveway using a classic herringbone pattern.

On the left-hand side of the driveway, we made sure the block paving was installed flush with the lawn turf, resulting in a seamless edge that blended naturally into the surrounding garden. This attention to detail meant the new driveway looked like a natural extension of the property, rather than a last-minute addition.

Herringbone Pattern With Two-Tone Brick Blend

For the main section of the driveway, we used herringbone brickwork made up of a terracotta and grey colour mix. This combination added warmth and contrast, helping the drive stand out while still working well with the house’s brickwork and general appearance.

The herringbone layout is not only a traditional favourite - it’s also a strong and durable pattern, making it ideal for driveways that need to stand up to regular vehicle use. Every brick was laid with care to maintain tight joints and a consistent finish across the whole surface.

Double Border Adds A Framed Finish

One of the standout features of this project was the custom border we installed around the edge of the driveway. We used a double border to define the layout and introduce an extra design feature. The inner border was made from light grey bricks laid in a neat horizontal pattern, providing a clear contrast to the main drive.

Outside this, we added a second outer border of dark grey bricks laid vertically, framing the whole area and giving the driveway a bold, finished edge. This double border created a professional look that elevated the overall design, whilst helping to keep the paving in place and reduce the risk of movement over time.

Functional Results With A Smart Finish

By blending colour, pattern and structure, we gave this Hucknall property a fresh new look from the kerb. The driveway now provides a reliable and tidy parking space, whilst adding value to the home with its smart layout and considered design.
