We recently installed another block paved driveway in Mansfield for a semi-detached property. The customer wanted something smart and modern that would improve the look of the house and add easy parking space.
We chose a simple yet stylish design using slate-grey and black pavers. This colour scheme gave a clean, up-to-date finish that works well with most property styles. It also adds value to the home by improving the kerb appeal and making the space more practical.
We started by stripping back the old surface and clearing the area. We dug down to the right depth to create a solid base. Once the area was ready, we added and compacted crushed stone. This helps stop movement or sinking in the future and gives the pavers a firm base to sit on.
Good drainage is key to any paved area. We installed a drainage system that carries water away from the house and stops pooling. This keeps the new driveway safe and dry, even during heavy rain.
We laid quality slate-grey block pavers across the full driveway. These were picked for their sharp look and durability. They create a smooth and tidy surface with space for a vehicle. The customer wanted a full-coverage finish, so we laid the pavers across the entire front of the property.
To give the driveway a neat frame, we installed a darker border using black bricks. This added a subtle contrast and helped shape the driveway. The border was laid with care to match the angles and lines of the property, giving the job a polished look.
One key part of the job was the section under the front bay window. This area had a protruding wall that needed extra care. We cut and laid the pavers to run flush with the wall, with tight joints and clean lines. This gave a seamless finish and showed the level of care we take in every part of the job.
We extended the same block paving down the side of the house. This created a matching path that leads neatly around the property. Using the same pavers meant the whole space looked cohesive and professional.
Once the pavers were laid, we brushed in kiln-dried sand. This locks the bricks in place and fills any small gaps. We then sealed the surface to improve resistance to weathering and to help reduce weed growth. This makes the driveway easier to look after and keeps it looking fresh for longer.
The final result is a modern driveway that lifts the appearance of the home and makes parking easier. The customer was happy with the clean lines, smart colour scheme, and quality of the work. It’s a simple design done well – built to last, easy to clean and ready to handle daily use.
